The
Legendary Phi Deck Heavy
Duty
"Building
Block" Cassette Tape Transport

Unequaled
reliability and flexibility have made the Phi Deck legendary as
the tape transport of choice for custom configuration to handle
the most demanding applications. Our "building block" approach
enables customers to specify virtually limitless customization
-- heads, motors, options, wiring harness . . . even internal
electronics -- while retaining the solid dependability and accuracy
of the basic Phi Deck.
12,000
Hour Reliability
While
most offshore suppliers quote Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF)
of 500 to 1500 hours, our Phi Deck customers routinely quote minimum
MTBFs of 4,000 to 5,000 hours -- and often as high as 12,000!
Diecast
Chassis
One reason
for the reliability of the Phi Deck is the chassis of diecast
zinc that is the deck's foundation. Diecast zinc is far more rigid
than the plastic or sheet metal used by some manufacturers. It's
even more rigid than aluminum -- and maintains critical dimensions
and close tolerances over a longer lifetime.
Patented
Pivoting Headbar and Four Motor Design
Other
reasons for the Phi Deck's outstanding reliability include our
unique pivoting headbar design that eliminates the need for continuous
power to maintain head engagement, and our four-motor design that
enables the Phi Deck to handle tape so gently that we actually
encourage the use of fragile C-120 tapes when their longer record/play
time is advantageous.
