The
DeskTop Recorder

The Phi
Tech Desktop Recorder is a two-channel (stereo) two-speed audio
cassette recorder/reproducer encased in a compact, low-profile
enclosure suitable for placement on a flat surface. The unit records
and plays at 1-7/8 ips (standard cassette tape speed) and at 15/16
ips (one-half the standard speed). Built-in speakers are provided
for complete standalone operation. A front-panel stereo headphone
jack allows private listening.
Remote
Control
The unit
provides for two methods of remote control: A single wire contact
closure input which engages the record function when an external
switch or relay contact is closed; and a nine-pin jack for connecting
an optional foot controller such as the type used for transcription.
The Desktop
Recorder is also available in a Front-Loading
style.
Line
Level Inputs and Outputs, and Microphone Inputs
The Desktop
Recorder includes line level and microphone inputs, and line level
and headphone outputs. The Headphone signal can be adjusted for
volume and bass/treble tone via the front panel controls.
Automatic
Gain Control
The recording
level can be set manually by the front panel controls, or automatically
with the Automatic Gain Control (AGC). This feature allows the
unit to boost low levels of signal and cut high levels for an
optimal recording free of distortion.
The Desktop
II and the Front-Loading Desktop recorders utilize the Phi
Deck, known worldwide as the most rugged cassette drive manufactured
in the U.S.
